Volunteer and Internship Program

Service Learning and Professional Engagement (SLAPE) program Volunteer, Intern, and Research with Experience Liberia

Purposeful Travel. Transformational Impact. Authentic Connection

At Experience Liberia, we believe that travel can do more than inspire; it can empower. Our volunteer, internship, and research programs invite global changemakers to connect with Liberia’s people, culture, and development journey through hands-on, community-based experiences.

Rooted in the principle of travel with purpose, our programs are built around the idea of co-creation. Whether you’re a student, professional, or explorer, we align your skills, interests, and academic goals with the real needs of communities across Liberia.

Our Service Learning and Professional Engagement (SLAPE) program was designed to enable students, early-career professionals, academic researchers, or global citizens. Our hands-on programs will allow you to make a meaningful contribution to Liberian communities while gaining real-world experience and cultural insight.

The Service Learning and Professional Engagement (SLAPE) Program offers unique Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities that allow students to apply what they’re learning in the real world, either during their studies or after graduation. This means you can work on a project with a business while you earn academic course credits or non-academic credits.

The SLAPE Program offers unique Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities, which allow students to apply what they are learning during their degree to the real world. By applying for the SLAPE program, students work on a project with a local, national, or international organization or business firm/company while also earning academic course credits or non-academic credits.

A SLAPE Internship helps students integrate classroom knowledge and theory with practical application, enabling them to develop not only workplace skills but also confidence in the applicability of their existing skills and attributes.  Our mission is to support college-to-career transitions by holistically preparing students and volunteers for meaningful professional lives, while providing them with the opportunity to reflect on their career development objectives.
