At Experience Liberia, our commitment to responsible tourism goes far beyond simply offering unforgettable adventures. We believe that travel should leave lasting, positive impacts on the places and people you visit. That’s why, alongside immersive tours and voluntourism experiences, we actively support local communities and charities across Liberia and West Africa.
While we believe that giving donations is only one part of responsible travel, we also recognize the power of strategic support. Our approach includes direct contributions, partnerships, and volunteer-driven initiatives that uplift people, protect wildlife, and preserve culture. We’re working toward a sustainability model that integrates tourism and long-term impact.
Our Current Initiatives
- Clothes for Change – WAVDI Partnership
In collaboration with the West Africa Volunteer Development Initiative (WAVDI), we’re supporting Clothes for Change, a community-driven project focused on repurposing gently used clothing and footwear to provide relief, dignity, and opportunity to vulnerable individuals and families across Liberia. Thousands of usable clothes and shoes are discarded yearly, while countless children and families go without essential clothing. This program seeks to bridge that gap, collecting, sorting, and redistributing items to those most in need, ensuring that children have the appropriate shoes and attire to attend school and thrive in their learning environments.
- She Leads Academy Â
Through this flagship program, we are helping to prepare the next generation of female leaders in Liberia. This academy offers leadership, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement training, along with mentorship from local and international role models.
- Street Library
The Street Library program aims to fight illiteracy and foster better education in Liberia by encouraging children to read and discover the joy of reading. The Street Library works with communities to improve literacy rates in Liberia by facilitating access to information, books, and technological devices while spreading the joy of reading across disadvantaged rural communities who would otherwise have little or no access to these resources. The library is set outdoors, inviting children and the youth to meet under a tent, open covered areas, or other structures to read individually or to listen to a reading.
