Once your application is reviewed and accepted, a registration fee is required within seven (7) days to confirm your placement.

Note: Please only complete the application form if you are committed to participating in a program in Liberia. We dedicate a significant amount of time to reviewing applications and curating placements that match your goals and skills. Program Guidelines
We’re excited that you’re considering contributing your skills and passion to communities in Liberia. We aim to ensure your time here is safe, impactful, and personally enriching. These guidelines outline our policies and expectations to help you prepare for your journey.
General Participation Policies
Scheduling & Placement Confirmation
All volunteers, interns, and researchers must coordinate placement dates with our Experience Liberia Coordinator.
- 🔹Placements must be confirmed at least 60 days before arrival
- 🔹 A registration fee is required to secure your spot
- Summer applicants are encouraged to apply early, as space is limited
Travel & Exploration
Weekend travel to Liberia’s historical and cultural landmarks is encouraged! Please coordinate all excursions with your program coordinator for logistical and safety purposes.
Arrival & Orientation
All participants are required to check in and attend orientation upon arrival. We expect you to please sign in during your placement, as your safety is our priority.
Age Requirements
You must be 18 years or older to apply. Younger applicants may be considered if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Dress Code
Dress modestly and respectfully, in alignment with local customs. Recommended attire includes:
- 🔹 Men: Collared shirts, trousers, and closed-toe shoes
- 🔹 Women: Knee-length skirts, dresses, or long pants; avoid mini-skirts or revealing clothing when at work
- 🔹 All: Volunteers/interns working in healthcare or food-related projects may be required to wear aprons, gloves, or protective gear
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Drugs
Experience Liberia enforces a strict drug-free policy. Possession, use, or distribution of any controlled substances is grounds for immediate dismissal and possible legal consequences.
Smoking, Food & Beverages
- 🔹 Smoking is prohibited in volunteer residences and workspaces. You may smoke outside designated areas away from children or the public.
- 🔹 Two daily meals (breakfast & dinner) provided. You are responsible for your lunch, which can be prepared in the communal kitchen or purchased locally.
- 🔹 Water and beverages are permitted at work sites, except in healthcare facilities.
Group Programs
Group leaders must submit applications 90 days in advance. Confirm arrival/departure dates and the number of participants at least 60 days prior to arrival. Custom itineraries are available upon request.
Conduct & Workplace Behavior
Volunteers, interns, and researchers are expected to:
- 🔹 Maintain respectful and ethical behavior at all times
- 🔹 Notify supervisors before leaving your assigned site
- 🔹 Avoid the use of equipment without training or supervision
- 🔹 Follow the guidance of on-site staff and local community norms
Confidentiality
If you are working with sensitive information, especially in schools, health centers, or research projects, you must maintain strict confidentiality, both during and after your placement.
Insurance & Liability
Participants are required to obtain personal health and travel insurance before arrival.
- 🔹 Report all injuries or incidents to the program supervisor immediately
- 🔹 Experience Liberia is not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property. Avoid bringing valuables, and securely store items at your residence
